Dr. Choi joined the Heritage Eye Center, in September 2010. His practice focuses on the diseases and surgery of the retina, vitreous, and macula. He has a special interest in complex retinal detachments and in the surgical management of diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Choi is a board certified diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
A native of New York City, Dr. Choi received his undergraduate education at Columbia College, Columbia University, with a degree in History. He completed his medical training at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn. Upon receiving his medical degree, Dr. Choi completed an internship in internal medicine at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in Manhattan and returned to SUNY Downstate to finish a three-year residency in ophthalmology. He then completed a two-year fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery at the University of Texas at Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
Dr. Choi was born in Queens, New York and still watches his beloved Mets play ball. But most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family of three children.
