Eye Doctor in McKinney and Allen

Dr. Sanjay Patel joined Heritage Eye Center in 1999 and developed Allen Ophthalmology in 2000. He has resided in Texas since 1978 and considers himself a Texan. He completed his undergraduate degrees at Southern Methodist University in 1990 and graduated with distinction of Magna Cum Laude. He then attended University of Texas Southwestern Medical School completing his doctorate of medicine in 1994. He then did his internship in internal medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center from 1994-1995. In 1995 he returned to Southwestern Medical School for specialty training in ophthalmology, and completed his surgical training in 1998.

Dr. Patel specializes in cataract surgery, and has a special interest in diabetic eye diseases, glaucoma, and general eye care. He prides himself in providing information to his patients and having them involved in the decision making process in taking care of their eyes.

Dr. Patel is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Patel has also instructed and trained residents in performing cataract surgery at Southwestern Medical School and Parkland Hospital, where he was an Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology.
